Term 4 Week 2

Literacy

We have been busy all week long finishing the good copy of our recounts.  Check out our publishing blog to see what we got up to.

We learnt that there are two ways to make the 'oi' sound.  There is oi as in boil and oy as in toy.

Maths

We have been learning about multiplication and division.  The symbol for multiplication is x and it means groups of.  So 6x5 means 6 groups of 5.

The symbol for division is a line with two dots.  It means share.  So 12 / 2 means 12 shared with 2.

Integrated

We have been learning about the continent of Africa.

Some people wear beads around their necks.  Tess
Most of the countries in Africa are poor.  Lewis
Some schools don't have whiteboards they have blackboards.  Lachlan
In our school we have toilets undercover but in Africa they have their toilets outside.  Brock
Some schools don't have uniforms like us.  Tayla

A lot of the tribes in Africa wear masks and dance to celebrate special events.  We made our own african masks and made up our own dance moves.

A lot of people in Africa are poor and don't have much to eat.  Some of them only get rice.  So we all tried eating some rice like african people.  We even used our fingers to eat it.  Most of us enjoyed it but wouldn't want to eat it all the time.

Special Events

We got a letter from Zero the Hero who is in Africa at the moment.  He went to visit Madagascar, South Africa and Egypt.  He is having a great time exploring the world.

This Friday is a public holiday because the Queen is visiting Perth.  We get three days for the weekend instead of two.  Yay!
